“The Care and Feeding of Ravenously Hungry Girls” focuses on mothers and daughters, identity and family, and the complex nature of familial relationships. Gray is a journalist at CNN Worldwide and was born in St. Joseph, Michigan.
During Monday’s Zoom, Gray discussed the process of writing a book and the contrast between journalism and novel writing, her personal connections to the book’s characters, the importance of setting the book in Southwest Michigan, a preview of her next novel’s themes and more.
