Jones, who is Black, and Abbott, who is white, explore the concepts of race, differences and cross-cultural understanding growing up in White Cloud, in Newaygo County.
During Friday’s Zoom, Jones and Abbott discussed the process of writing a collaborative memoir, the reception to “Wounds” in their hometown, why they implored white readers to stand up to racism in the book and channeling their pain and trauma into a message of hope.
