We Solve Murders hit shelves in September 2024 and Osman confirmed there “will be a television series” adaptation of this work, reports the Mirror.
During the same discussion, the author championed the cosy crime category, which occasionally faces criticism, though he confessed it didn’t bother him.
“There are so many people in the world who are sniffy about so many things, and it doesn’t make them happier. If I ever say something is good on social media and someone s**** it off I say, ‘You don’t need to s*** it off, just reply with something you love.’ That’s all you need.”
We Solve Murders, which immediately became a New York Times bestseller, centres on father and daughter-in-law Steve and Amy Wheeler, who lead completely contrasting existences. Steve is a former police officer enjoying a peaceful retirement in the New Forest, whilst his daughter Amy works as a private security operative.
During a crucial assignment protecting renowned author Rosie D’Antonio on an isolated island, a personal threat emerges which leads Amy to turn to her father-in-law for assistance.
The narrative chronicles their escapades as Amy discovers her life is under threat, with a string of killings connected to her present job.
Details about the television adaptation remain under wraps, though Osman confirmed to Radio Times that it was definitely in development.
Osman has been crafting his second novel for the We Solve Murders series. Towards the close of 2024, he expressed his joy on Instagram after the inaugural book was declared “Britain’s biggest-selling book of 2024”.
He posted: “Absolutely thrilled that #WeSolveMurders is Britain’s biggest-selling book of 2024. A million thanks to everyone. Am currently writing the 5th Thursday Murder Club book, and there will be more ‘We Solve Murders’ in 2025!”
The Thursday Murder Club airs on Netflix on August 28
