Television has given us some great shows and series within the last few decades! We could go on-and-on about our favorite Western-shows, funniest sit-coms, and even the best Netflix series. (And trust us, we will!) However, right now we want to talk about a very specific type of genre: anthology series! Some of you may immediately know what we mean when we say that, others might be a bit more confused. So, let us explain it a bit. At its core, an anthology series doesn’t necessarily follow one storyline or the same set of characters all the way through. Instead, it focuses on a few stories, sometimes introducing new characters throughout. While that may sound complex, we promise that anthologies make some of the best shows!
For example, a very popular (and recent!) show from Taylor Sheridan is Lawmen: Bass Reeves. In true Sheridan style, it’s a Western that tells the story of a real life iconic lawman in history. While the first season focuses on Bass Reeves himself, it has been said the future series will focus on different lawmen entirely! Another example would be The Twilight Zone. Instead of changing the storyline each season, this series introduces us to new characters and supernatural scenarios each episode.
Anthology series as a whole can follow romance, horror, and everything in between! Read this list of the best anthology TV series that are worth watching right now.
Lawmen
If you don’t already know the story of Bass Reeves, you’re in for a treat. The first season of Lawmen follows the historic figure, who happened to be the first African-American U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi River. His story is riveting and heroic. We can’t wait to see what other lawmen are featured in future seasons!

The Haunting
The Haunting consists of two seasons: The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor. They tell two separate, eerily beautiful stories of spirits who remain on earth.
