New Louis Zamperini book signing to feature author, family members in Torrance – Press Telegram

To celebrate what would have been Louis Zamperini’s 98th birthday, the Torrance Historical Society will host a book signing at 2 p.m. Jan. 25 at the museum, 1345 Post Ave., Torrance.

David Rensin, co-author of “Don’t Give Up, Don’t Give In — Lessons from an Extraordinary Life,” will be on hand along with Zamperini family members for the event marking the recent release of the book co-authored with Zamperini before his death last summer.

The book features some of the final thoughts of Zamperini, who wanted to impart some of his wisdom, values, lessons, secrets and other insights.

His son and daughter, Luke Zamperini and Cynthia Zamperini-Garris, are expected to attend.

Rensin, who also co-authored Zamperini’s “Devil at My Heels,” worked with him as filming was underway on “Unbroken,” the film released in December based on Laura Hillenbrand’s book of the same name.

The museum also will be showing the Torrance centennial DVD of “Louis Zamperini — Triumph of the Torrance Tornado” and will have other memorabilia on display, including trophies and his old running uniform and wallet from the 1930s.
