Selling A Story to Murderfish.

Adding to the awesomeness of Murderbugs and Murderbirds comes MURDERFISH. WonderBird Press has a series of absolutely gorgeous anthologies called The Unhelpful Encyclopedia. These are illustrated spec fiction books featuring 20 short stories in each. I subbed to both but didn’t make it in.
MURDERFISH – Open till January 31st, or until they get inundated with subs, and the slush readers can’t keep up – pay 2c a word, with the possibility of more if the Kickstarter funds successfully. – Reprints accepted and paid at $50 per story. – word count 1000-6000, prefer 2000-4000.
What we are looking for – Speculative fiction short stories about fish and intent to kill. And we mean “fish” in the loosest possible way, with anything aquatic being eligible—some items might be harder sells, but if it can be found in the water, we’ll take a look.
Send us speculative fiction stories about your favorite crustaceans, cephalopods, cnidarians, and other sea creatures. Each story included in the anthology will be about a different kind of fish, and most will be based on or inspired by real-world species. The illustrated collection will read like a worst-case-scenario aquatic bestiary, or an “Unhelpful Encyclopedia.” The featured murder(s) can be successful or unsuccessful, with the fish as the perpetrators or victims, serious or completely irreverent. Assume a PG13 rating, with a possible exception for over-the-top creature violence only.
Originally, Mike Jack only opened this to specific writing groups (such as Superstars, the Wulf Pack, the Apex Writers Group, etc.)., but word got out, and now anyone can “fish!”
